Pool of Blood - Liverpool Everyman Directors, D Llewellyn, A Sherlock and R Merkin Musical Director S Llewellyn Lyrics G Winstanley, A Sherlock, JMU Drama students JMU Drama Liverpool Culture Company A macabre musical extravaganza exploring murder and mystery stories from Liverpool, some fact, some fiction, some still unknown. One of the central stories to this production was of James Maybrick, a Liverpool cotton merchant whose diary was presented in 1992 claiming he was Jack the Ripper. His wife Florence Maybrick was convicted of his murder in 1889, she poisoned him. "Dark choral harmonies merge with gloriously malevolent, toe-tapping tunes in this blood-curdling rock opera cabaret." Gaynor Wright, Creative Education Manager, Liverpool Culture Company |
